Photo Rights & Licensing

Explora showcases Mauritius through photography. The photos published on this website help visitors, locals, travellers, photographers and nature lovers discover Mauritius through beaches, waterfalls, mountains, villages, sunsets, nature parks, wildlife and local places.

However, the photos displayed on Explora are not free downloads. They remain the property of their respective photographers or rightful copyright holders.

Who owns the photos on Explora?

Each photo remains the property of its photographer or rightful copyright holder. Explora displays the photos as part of a Mauritius photography and discovery platform, but publication on Explora does not transfer ownership or usage rights to visitors.

Can I share an Explora photo page?

Yes. You may share the link to an Explora page on social media, messaging apps, websites or blogs, provided that the shared link points back to the original page on Explora.

For example, you may share the URL of a photo page, tag page, article or gallery page so that people can view the photo on Explora.

Sharing a page link is different from copying the image itself. You may not save, download, screenshot, extract, copy or upload the actual photo file to another website, social media page, post, story, video, advertisement, presentation or publication without permission.

Can I download, copy or reuse photos from Explora?

No. Unless clearly authorised in writing by the photographer or rightful copyright holder, photos on Explora may not be downloaded, copied, saved, edited, printed, redistributed, republished, uploaded elsewhere, used in social media content, used in marketing materials, or included in commercial or non-commercial projects.

This applies even if the photo appears in a public gallery, tag page, photographer profile, article, social preview or search result.

Can I request permission or a licence to use a photo?

Yes. If you would like to use a photo displayed on Explora, please contact us with the photo page URL and a short explanation of how you would like to use the image.

Where appropriate, Explora may direct your request to the relevant photographer or help you contact the photographer. Any permission, licence, usage conditions, fees or restrictions are decided by the photographer or rightful copyright holder.

Where possible, Explora displays the name of the photographer associated with each image. A visible credit does not mean that the photo is free to use. Permission is still required before any reuse, download, publication, upload, printing or redistribution of the image itself.

Photo prints

Some photos may be available as prints or may be offered through a separate arrangement with the photographer. Buying or requesting a print does not automatically grant digital reuse, publishing, advertising, licensing or redistribution rights.
