Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is located 48 km from Port Louis and has all the usual facilities: banks, duty-free stores, restaurants and currency exchange offices. Completely renovated in 2013, the terminal is now state-of-the-art and offers welcoming lounges to start or end your trip to Mauritius in a pleasant way. Inaugurated in August 2013 after three years of work, the Mauritius airport terminal is now the largest infrastructure on the island. It can accommodate 4.5 million passengers per year and even has an aircraft stand specially dedicated to the A380. Its originality lies in its tropical architecture. Its roof was designed to resemble the Ravenala, a common tropical plant on the island. The new Mauritius airport terminal now has three levels. Customs, tour operators' counters and the baggage delivery hall are on the first floor, the departure area, duty-free and boarding lounges are on the second floor and the second and top floor is entirely dedicated to attendants who can watch the planes take off from the huge glass area. Mauritius is a reference in terms of sustainable development. The terminal is equipped with numerous water recovery systems, more than 260 solar panels, natural lighting and vegetated circuits. The international airport of Mauritius is served by many companies: Air France, Air Mauritius, British Airways, Condor... It is also possible to fly to Rodrigues Island. The lounges of the airport of Mauritius. Mauritius airport has three main lounges, where travelers can relax before taking their flight. The Yu lounge: this is a luxury lounge open to passengers of private jets or commercial flights. The Atol lounge: This lounge is open to all departing passengers. In a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere, the Atol lounge invites you to rest before your flight. Passengers will find international and local newspapers, magazines, as well as television and wi-fi access. The quality of services and the relaxing atmosphere offer loyal customers the opportunity to rest before their flight. The lounge has a Business Centre with computer access, a children's corner as well as a buffet and bar with a wide choice of food and beverages. The brand new terminal of the Mauritius airport sets an example both for the services offered and for its willingness to be in line with sustainable development.
