The lighthouse of Pointe des Caves, which rises prominently on the cliff's edge and looks out over the sea, serves as a guide for ships approaching Port Louis' harbor. The lighthouse, which has distinctive red and white stripes across the length of it, was completed in 1910 and is still in use today. It is necessary to ascend the 98-step wooden and cast iron stairway to the summit of the lighthouse. It's a popular photo spot in Mauritius not just because of the gorgeous scenery, but also because it hides the entrance to a cave inhabited by birds and bats beneath the cliffs.
