Striated Heron Perched Near Water

A beautiful close-up of a Striated Heron, also known as a Mangrove Heron, perched quietly on a tree branch near the water in Mauritius. Its blue-grey and greenish-blue feathers give the bird a subtle elegance, especially against the soft, dark wetland background. Although it is not endemic to Mauritius, this small heron is part of the island's birdlife and can often be seen around ponds, rivers, marshy areas, mangroves, and quiet coastal wetlands.
