The stones of Riviere des Galets

Contrary to it's name, Riviere des Galets is actually a beach a not a river. This rocky beach of is one of a kind as its shores are covered with pebbles known as "gallets" in French. Riviere des Galets is found between the villages of Bel Ombre and Souillac. Riviere des Galets is found between the villages of Bel Ombre and Souillac. The beach is easily accessible from the coastal road east of Souillac. The beach is an ideal place to enjoy a beautiful view of the sea and the big waves crashing on the shore. A few minutes walk from the beach is the small island, Ilot Sancho. The island is accessible by foot from the beach of Rivière des Galets by crossing the shallow sea at this point. Ilot Sancho is very small and it is possible to walk around the entire island in a few minutes. The walk on the island is very pleasant and you will have a beautiful view of the south coast. The sea of Ilot Sancho is not suitable for swimming.
