Cascade Léon in the Forest Near L’Exil

Cascade Léon, also known as Exil Waterfall, is located in the south of Mauritius, near Rivière des Anguilles and the L'Exil area. It is not a waterfall that can normally be reached directly by car. The easiest and best-known access has traditionally been from L'Exil Lodges, where visitors could park and continue on foot through the forest toward the waterfall. Depending on the exact starting point and path used, the walk from the L'Exil side is often described as relatively short, but visitors should still expect a nature trail with uneven ground, forest paths, rocks, and slippery areas near the basin. The photo shows the waterfall in its dense forest setting, with several streams dropping into a natural pool surrounded by large rocks and thick vegetation. Cascade Léon is also known for swimming and for the possibility of going behind the waterfall into a small hidden cave, but access and safety depend strongly on weather, water level, and the condition of the path. If access from L'Exil is not available, people may still reach the area using other hiking routes from the south, but these are less straightforward and are better done with local guidance or someone who knows the trail.
