Throwing a fishing net in such a way that it opens properly can be tricky. Here a fisherman in the lagoon of Tamarin caught in action while the net opens itself. The hawk technique or method of fishing is to hand cast the net in a circular motion over a school of fish, visible or not on the surface, and then pull back the hawk by pulling on the pick-up line. When the hawk is pulled back, the net closes, creating a pocket from which the fish cannot escape.
