The Striated Heron is also known as the Mangrove Heron, Little Green Heron, Green-backed Heron or sometimes the Little Heron and is from the Striata species. This bird has some characteristics which make it easy to distinguish. It has a grey and dark blue body, grey or black feathers with white stripes on the wings and a long thin black beak. We can find it perching near ponds waiting for its next catch an aquatic insect, a small fish or other small aquatic animals like frogs.
