Blue-Tailed Day Gecko in Black River Gorges

This colourful gecko is endemic to Mauritius, making it one of the island's special native reptiles. Its bright green body, turquoise-blue tail, red markings, and alert eye stand out beautifully against the rough bark and soft forest background. In Mauritius, this species can be seen in suitable forested areas, gardens, and natural habitats where it climbs trees and feeds on small insects, nectar, and soft fruits.
