Cascade Edward at Deux Bras

Cascade Edward is a waterfall found near Deux Bras, in the Grand Port region of Mauritius. It is not one of the island's heavily promoted tourist waterfalls, which makes it more of a local hiking and exploration spot than a classic sightseeing stop. Trail references place it near Deux Bras, while some hiking routes combine it with the Rose Belle / New Grove / Kalpatia Waterfall area, showing that it forms part of a wider inland waterfall route in the south-east of the island. From above, this drone photo shows one of the most interesting features of Cascade Edward: the waterfall does not appear as a single straight drop, but as several streams falling over a rocky ledge into a dark natural pool. The surrounding vegetation is dense, with palms and river plants close to the basin, which gives the site a more hidden and less developed character. Some trail notes describe the Deux Bras waterfall route as relatively easy, but as with many waterfalls in Mauritius, access can depend on weather, water level, and the exact path used.
