Lush forest at the foot of Corps de Garde Mountain

The Corps de Garde is a mountain that overlooks Rose Hill and Quatre Bornes, but also offers a magnificent view in the direction of Flic en Flac, Tamarin and even on a clear day to Le Morne whose lagoon will not fail to attract you. The hike can be divided into two courses, the half-course allows you to reach the top of the Corps de Garde, in about 1h30. For those who want more, it is possible to continue and cover the whole mountain on its crest, in this case the hike will take you between 5 and 6 hours. Note that the first part is perfectly marked and even if the path to reach the top of the mountain is in the middle of high grass, it is used very regularly, so you can easily see it. The second part requires more willpower, some passages are very close to the void and others require you to battle with branches and sometimes yellow flies. However the pleasure is great, the panorama is not quite the same between these two points, you can fully appreciate the view of the Three Mamelles and the Rampart mountain. Besides the vertiginous passages, the wind is rather powerful and many passages require to climb the rock face, this hike is absolutely not recommended for children. On the first part of the route, you will rarely have shade, on the second part, all the passages through the shrubs allow you to be at least in the shade, if you decide to follow the side of the mountain, it is essential to be equipped to secure your progression.
